Public participation
March for the rivers, 24 May 2014
Promoriver participated in the wide range of activities undertaken during the 5th National Meeting of the Projeto Rios - seminars, workshops, monitoring and cleaning of the river - in Rio Tinto. About 60 persons, mostly students and teachers, but also local people and volunteers from NGOs, were involved in the "River March", witht the goal to raise awareness for the rivers and for the need to protect them, but also to enjoy them.
During the march, children sang and shouted slogans about the river.
In the march, other environmental initiatives and projects, such as "Clean Up the Med", the "Rivers and Oceans Project" and the "River Project", were involved.
Manifestation with Descent of the Douro River in rafts, 5 July 2014
On 5 and 6 July 2014 the OPE - Organization for Promotion of Ecoclubes, organized the Environmental Manifestation with Descent of the Douro River in rafts, as well as walk through the fringe of the river watching the rafts. This initiative aims primarily the environmental awareness to the issues related to the rivers and the water either to the direct participants and for the general population as well as promoting cooperation between environmental movements and associations. The descent of the Douro River in rafts it is not a race, it is a manifestation and form of public participation in order to sensitize the general population. The rafts were built by the participants themselves using reused materials: plastic bottles, cans, pallets, textiles, etc. and in the sail or panel had to see one or more messages of environmental awareness, preferably related to the themes of rivers and water.
Public participation on Trancão River, 29 November 2014
A group of nearly 20 people, members of ASPEA, CAAL (Outdoor Activities Club) and other participants, joined together in a cleaning activity of the Trancão River. The team followed the valley of the river from its mouth to the inland, along the river bed and banks, cleaning garbage and debris, observing the biodiversity and human made impacts in different critical spots
Photo Challenge, "Around Noéme River" 05 June 2015
The Photo Challenge “Around Noéme river” was organized by the Regional Center of QERCUS in Guarda, with the partnership of ASPEA within the Project PROMORIVER, also the Cultural Association MACA and the FotoClube of Guarda within the commemorations of their 3º aniversary. The aim of the activity was to evidence the state of conservation of the Noéme River.
This activity is a part of „Adopt the River“ scheme. The meeting was held in two programe modules. The forst module was educational. It included lectures of experts on river restoration as well as necessary law knowledge. Second block consisted of examples of successfull examples and
Exchange of information between voluntary „patronship“ groups. The meeting was focused on already working groups, potential people interested in the scheme, and professionals in river conservation and fishermen.
